HELP! I have a very confusing situation with my guy friend!!!!?

My guy friend of 2yrs had a breakup 3months ago from a 3yr relationship. I kinda felt we had feelings for each other, but things were kept platonic! Day after his breakup, my idiot friend asked him if he liked me, he paused, said as a friend, then kept asking if i was mad. We talked a lil afterwards, but I took a 1month break. I needed to get over him. Then school starts & he is flirting more than ever. Texts 7-8x a day, calls randomly, we have 4+hr online convos, he's staring, blushing, etc. I replied him. I flirted a lot, called, texted too. Now, 1month later, we are more open w/ each other than ever. We share everything! The last 4 nights straight, we've had 2-3hr online convos. He sits by me in cl. Thing is, I dunno if he just feels comfortable now that he's said we're friends, or if all this means something? Another thing is that he keeps switching from flirty to playing it cool. Last night he mentioned how he is a very shy person. He's so great, and I dont wanna scare him off.
