Many different answers whats real?

I gave been reading many different explanations for what happened after jesus was put on the cross and geza vermes (the "expert authority" on jesus says there are 5 possible answers but that no one knows for sure if jesus died on the cross and also if his body ascended to heaven. so whats a person whos trying desperately to know the truth do? i want to know what to believe i want to know what really happened to jesus and i am afraid if i dont believe that i will be in hell if infact jesus is coming back and i dont know what to do.
